Committee  reports:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Service  Committee:  we met.  Evaluation should be tweaked but
       nothing new came up.  We though about the fourfold program
       of service
Carnival: about 4-5 boohts , a couple of performance groups will be
       there.  we're probably getting money from the provost.  things
       generally going well.
Big Screw (David):  we met.  there's a list of candidates.  There's
       an LSC slide, but other publicity may or may not exist.  Matt
       wants you to dig up candidates
Old  Business:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
none

New  Business:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
John Kohl: we're planning a spring reception for graduates and their
       families.
Conclave-  Ingrid:  the people who were going to hold next term's
       conclave cannot. we're considering trying to do it in their place.
Cathy:  we should be able to use on-campus facilities for most stuff.
       There's generally a party; mit catering can do that.
Alexis: we're asking the athletic department to let people sleep on cots
       or in sleeping bags in the gym; it'll probably work. close hotels
       are too expensive. we need 15 positive votes.
Cathy:  we looked into getting a hostel, it'll cost $12 per person per
       night and a service project.  we could stick a few people in
       brother's bouses but that's not a solution.
Alexis:  nobody else is considering a bid.  It'll be november 14-16.
       we've reserved rooms.
voting (from people at the meeting and email responses)
yes: 10 ; no :3; abstain :4 (less than 15 votes)
Ingrid: I abstained for political resason
Cathy: I did as well, plus I'm uneasy about houseing.
Chris Falling: I'll probably be on the cape so I abstained.
Ari: same, plus I've run one before and it can be done with less than
       12 people
Matt: I abstained but I'll help
revote- yes:12 ; no: 3 ; abstain:2
Alexis:  conclave this weekend.  Richard Donovan is running for sec-
       tional chair, along with steve miller and jeff carson.
Charley: there will be quorum
David: we need to approve the big screw rules
Ari: we should say what we do with foreign objects; UMOC rules made
       them property of AXcoAPO (accepted as a friendly ammend-
       ment)
Ingrid: (comment about posting totals)
David: the rules say totlas are "posted". I didn't change it.
voting-
yes: 14 ; no: 0, abstain: 1
Book Exchange-
Cathy: we have about $2500. Some will mail the remaining books to
       kentucky, to help a flooded town whose library was destroyed.
       we can make lots of little contributions or one big one.
Charley: national braille press or Project Literacy US would work as
       would the ADult Reading Foundation.
Cathy: books are going to Falmouth , KY. and Rosies' places. Serv-
       comm came up with local libraries/schools as possible donation
       recipients. This could be attached to a service project
Ari: the $ doesn't have to be attached to book-related things
(more discussion...cathy will look into more donation sites and report
back at the 4/23 chapter meeting)
(discussion on conclave bid occurs, and it's mentioned that conclave will
hose the chapter, and to wait for confirmed housing before bidding)
