Minutes of ExecComm (January 12, 1993)
*Silly sorts of stuff:
Start: 7:07 pm; End: 7:45 pm. Present:
Crystal Reul, Jen'n Schwartz, Sara Verilli, Bridget Spitznagel, Kate
Curtis, Tracy Vogler, Glenn Berry, Ezra Erb, John Hollywood
*Officers' reports:
*SVP's report:
AfterFinals is this weekend. I am looking into possibilities for
spring term projects and then finding people who can PC on a
particular weekend. I have PC's for most end-of-the-term projects
now. I need a PC for the 30th, John Hollywood needs a Reg Day sub-PC,
and Ezra is looking for a book exchange treasurer. Kevin is looking
into Chapter Weekend I. Someone should call Sigma Xi about the date
for Conclave which seems to have changed again.
Kate: Someone from Circle K wants to know if we want to have a joint
project, hospital volunteer work.
*MVP's report:
I have copies of voting and pledge policies. They are the same as
last term's (except for the dates.) I found a list of big brother
expectations which I will also propose. I am still open for additions
to the prospectives list. Ovidiu's activation ceremony will be next
week, the 26th. I'll see about getting 20 Chimneys. I'm going to get
rooms for open meetings tomorrow. Everyone, I want drop poster ideas.
*AVP's report:
Nothing to report.
*Treasurer's report:
The books are up to date. Hopefully Jen Shih will close the books
from last term, too.
*Fellowship Chair's report:
-not present-
Crystal: We have an open position for fellowship chair.
*APOcEd's report:
-not present-
*ASC's report:
We're going to have an office cleaning party! (TBA; sometime before
the end of IAP.)
*PubDir's report:
-not present-
*Historian's report:
I've put together a historian How-To book and it's in the apo locker.
Glenn: All officers, there are many how-to books on athena (which
might be helpful to read.)
*Chairman of the Advisory Committee, report of:
-not present-
*President's report:
We need to think about a spring term pledge class namesake. People
have mailed me some recommendations which I will send to Sara.
Ezra: We might also need someone to tell us what these people did.
Jen'n: Look in the historian's roll.
Glenn: We should have nominating speeches. btw, the president and
historian should get the historian's roll up to date.
[Back to the president..] All officers should look at the files in
the back office and Dispose At Will! Figure out what's necessary and
what's not. Tomorrow evening at 7 we're meeting to discuss the
leadership program. How we stand, what we want to do, how to do it..
I like the WUApo format; thanks, Ping. One more thing, Jen'n
fellowship idea about "a brother is someone you can call at 3 am."
The idea is for ExecComm to make cookies and deliver them to the
brothers at 2 am. (Much discussion, mostly about the timing. Glenn
notes that the point of the saying is, "if you need to." Jen'n says
he is right, but it seems we have lost that and the brothers are more
distanced now. Sara suggests we have more "lock-in" fellowship events
where brothers spend several hours together.) Anyway, the idea was to
show that ExecComm cares..
*Committee reports:
-none-
*Old Business:
-none-
*New Business:
John: Reg Day is Thursday the 28th. I have a letter from Mary
Callahan.. the gym is reserved a lot longer. They will provide
breakfast. They haven't decided how they want setup done yet. I
forgot to ask about PE registration. I will negotiate with Ezra about
setup time so that Book Exchange and Reg Day setups are not
simultaneous. I need some sub-PC's: I'm going to be in Iceland next
week and I need someone to meet with Mary Callahan then. Also I need
a Manpower pc to do one big phone-calling the night before, and a Food
pc.
Glenn: Jen'n and I are going to write a National Voting Delegate
Report of the legislation that passed. We will make a coherent file
out of everyone's reports. Officers: purge your (back-office) files
SOON, I want to relocate the drawers before the end of IAP. There is
a 3-3788 over here and one by the MVP and Treasurer desks. Both work.
The flammables cabinet request will be written up soon.
*Announcements
Crystal: The next execcomm is the 26th.
Ezra: Book exchange is coming up. Sign up!
Glenn: Everyone who went to Nationals, think over everything you saw
etc for Good Ideas for the chapter.
*PFTGOTO
Crystal: Great job at nationals Jen'n and Glenn. I have copies of
the newsletter for anyone who wants to see.
