Date: Wed, 13 Nov 96 15:39:12 EST From: "Darlene J. Ford" <darford@eddie.mit.edu> To: hjang@MIT.EDU, apocrypha@MIT.EDU, apo-news@MIT.EDU I am announcing my candidacy for Chapter Masseuse. "Back in my day" the tradition of exchanging backrubs was an important part of the informal bonding holding the the chapter together. Why does the chapter need a backrub program today? Why should you elect me Chapter Masseuse? Let me be begin by discussing the importance of backrubs to the principles of Alpha Phi Omega. LEADERSHIP: Look at the statues of our leaders dotting the common. They stand proud, determined, and straight. You are a much more convincing leader if you stand tall and show enthusiasm for your project. And the key to doing this is a happy back, with all the knots from your *.??foo exam worked out. FRIENDSHIP: Friends want friends to be happy and comfortable. Backrubs are useful for the reduction of muscle tension, and ensuing physical pain. They are also useful for relieving the emotional angst causing the tension. Show your brothers that you care. SERVICE: Service, particurly the kinds favored by Alpha Chi, requires strong backs. And these strong backs often do more physical work on Saturday than they have all week. Hence a good service program needs a good backrub program. AX needs a capable chapter masseuse to nurture the tradition of brotherly backrubs. My qualifications include: - strong hands - 6 years experience (I pledged Spring '91.) - Have massaged a wide variety of backs, including mesomorphs, endomorphs, ectomorphs, and chocolomorphs. - I'm engaged, so I can be counted on not to abuse the privileges of my office. ;0) - I live in the area, and attend chapter events. - I will hold irregular office hours. Thank you for your support. YiLFS, Darlene Ford '93
