My 30th birthday is next week, so I'm having a party at my house on
Saturday evening, November 9th, 1996.
Who: me and my friends (including you!)
What: 30th Birthday party, with various food & drink, a few board
games, cards, hanging out & talking, whatever.
When: Saturday November 9, 1996, starting at 7:30pm and going until whenever
Where: My house, Arlington Heights (see directions below)
Why: because I want to celebrate my demise as "youngster"
What to bring:
If you feel like bringing food or liquid, feel free to do so
(but let me know in advance, if you can, to avoid overflow). If you
like beer, I suggest you bring some since I know nothing about selecting
decent beers. I will have a few bottles of wine (mostly reds which have
been sitting in my cabinet for long enough to be ready); you're welcome
to bring more.
No presents, please.
Directions to John Kohl's house, 8 Lorne Road, Arlington, MA:
Note: I do not permit smoking in my house. You are welcome to smoke in
my front or back yard if you keep it clean.
a) by bus: Take #77 from Harvard Sq., Porter Sq. (or anywhere along
Mass. Ave.) to the end of the line in Arlington Heights.
end-game:
Follow Mass. Ave. north, along the Arlington Heights MBTA bus parking
lot, to Paul Revere Road (on your left, at the Gulf station). Take Paul
Revere Road to the first right (Sutherland, a steep hill). Walk up
Sutherland; it curves to the right (at Spring St.) and then sharply to
the left. Lorne Road is the next street on the left. 8 Lorne Road is
the third on the left.
b) by car:
NOTE: If you plan on drinking alcoholic beverages, make arrangements for
a designated driver for your return trip home.
NOTE: parking on my street is extremely limited. If you can walk
uphill, I suggest you park on Massachusetts Avenue and follow the
directions above from the bus depot.
From Cambridge: drive to Mass. Ave. in Arlington, head north
almost to the Lexington border. You will cross Park Ave. at a traffic
light then pass the Arlington Heights bus depot on your right. Proceed
with the above directions.
From the West:
Take Route 2 to the Park Ave. exit. Take Park Ave. North (past the
water tower) over and down the hill. Turn left on to Paul Revere road
one block before you get to Mass. Ave. (at the corner with a church--you
will turn left immediately beyond the church). (If you hit Mass. Ave.,
just turn left and follow above directions). Turn left up Sutherland,
bear right then left, and then turn left onto Lorne Road.
From the North (128/I-95):
Take 128 to the Middlesex Turnpike/Rt. 3 exit. Take the Middlesex
turnpike south for several miles. After Rt. 2A joins the road, look for
Lowell St.--the right-hand side of a fork (Rt. 2A takes the left-hand
side of the fork). Follow Lowell St. past the Arlington Reservoir (on
your right) to Park Avenue (a 6-way intersection). Turn right on Park
Ave, cross a bridge over the bike trail, and turn right at the traffic
light (Mass. Ave). Follow above directions.
From the East (I-93):
Take Rt. 60 West through Medford Center and into Arlington Center. Turn
right on Massachusetts Avenue. Follow above directions.
