OK, this is the third invitation to the third annual Alex's Swedish
Christmas Eve dinner, to be held the evening of thursday Dec. 24th.
If all you need is directions, just skip to the end.

So far I am batting .500. The kinuski came out way too soft - I think
I'll have to salvage it as ice cream caramel sauce. The Jansson's
Temptation, on the other hand, is all set.

So come, eat good food, even if you haven't RSVP'd. I'm aiming to have
so much food that there will be leftovers despite the fact that
Jeff Keller will be there.

The menu, with internet-standard scandinavian character equivalents:

Ost & sill: numerous cheeses, crackers, and various variants of herring,
with various sauces, incl. mustard "cured salmon" sauce.

Smaavarmt: small spicy meatballs and the best new potatos I can find.

Skinka & Mayonnaes: ham and home-mademayonnaise. Will be replaced with
roast-beef with my traditional cream sauce.

Jansson's Frestelse: thinly sliced very light potato and cream dish,
spiced with onion and optional anchovies. If I were Jansson I would
have succumbed to this temptation.

Kinuski: Cream-based caramel sauce. Derived from the russian verb
tyagnuty, to pull.

It is not too late to make plans to come. RSVP by email or phone,
628-3988.

Directions to Ground Zero (aka 17 Mt. Pleasant St. Somerville)

by T: We are around the corner from Sullivan Sq. T stop. When you
emerge from the T stop, go left. Follow the sidewalk as it curves left
under the highway. Mt. Pleasant is the second street to the left; the
Mount Vernon restaurant is on the corner. We are the first house on
the right near the street. The number 17 is prominently displayed on
the front door.

by car:
Leave your car at home and take the T. Failing that, go to the
intersection of Broadway and the McGrath-O'Brien Highway, near
Somerville Lumber, then go south on Broadway. Mt. Vernon st. is the
last light before Sullivan Sq; Mt. Pleasant st. is the first right
after the light. Note that the Mount Vernon restaurant is on the
corner of Mt. Pleasant st, not Mt. Vernon st.

If you don't know how to get to Somerville lumber, and you're
driving, call us and we'll try very hard to give better directions.
Unfortunately it's just not easy to get to our place by car.

	Hope to see you soon,
	 - Alex
