So, in attempt to keep people from feeling they had to follow a specific format
I was implicitly vague regarding what was required for pledge interviews.
This seems to have led to some confusion, so I shall now be explicitly
vague ;)
The pledge requirement state that pledges are required to:
"Exchange brief interviews with at least 12 active brothers, one
alum, one advisor, and one third of the pledge class"
The "rules" since people have asked for them are as follows:
1) anything anyone has gotten as an interview up till now counts as
an interview.
2) interviews from now on should be written by the person interviewing
and signed by the person being interviewed. This can be as simple as
"I talked to so and so" or as complicated as you want. You don't have
to write down questions and answers if you don't feel like it.
3) these don't have to be long. a four or five minute chat qualifies as
a perfectly valid interview
4) they don't have to be written in the pledge book. any handy napkin will
do nicely. the blank pages in the back of the pledge book are for convenience
if you want to use them
5) the brother or pledge being interviewed should make sure to ask some
questions of the person being interviewed. the idea here is to make sure
people get to know each other by the end of the pledge term
6) I'm not planning to ever actually look over these, just to ask periodically
who you've interviewed so far to make sure everyone's on track
7) if you're having trouble finding people, feel free to talk to me and
I'll arrange something.
8) to restate rule one, if you've already gotten any interviews and didn't
get them signed, you DON'T have to go back and get them signed. Just
keep track of the list of names.
that's all- enjoy meeting each other,
Ari
