Hello. You are all getting this letter because you expressed an interest
at one point or another in Alpha Phi Omega. APO is a national
coed fraternity whose primary purpose is doing community service.
Our other cardinal principles are friendship- we like to be friends,
and leadership, which we try to encourage in members.
Everyone is welcome in APO, whether you live in a dorm, a fraternity,
sorrority, or whatever. The sort of things we normally do include
working at homeless shelters, braille presses, food banks, and other
local charities, building things, tearing things down, painting,
cleaning, and whatever else is needed (some of us particularly
like tearing things down :) We are also responsible for several
service projects on campus (including a book exchange next week and
helping to run registration day). Sometimes we have events just to
help members have fun and get to know each other better (movie
nights, picnics, games, dances, etc).

We'll be having a series of events in the next few weeks for people who might
be interested in doing community service while at MIT and meeting people
who could become lifelong friends (but no commitment just for showing up :)

Tomorrow (Thursday) we will have an open service project. We will be
cleaning up along the charles river for the MDC (the people in charge of
the local parks). Anyone interested should let me know. We will
be leaving from our office (room 415 of the student center) at
12 noon once we get the equipment from MDC.

Also Tomorrow we will be having a movie night! From 9pm-1am (or however late
people want to stay). We'll be getting 'cult movies' (Monty Python,
Highlander, Princess bride, etc) and we might have a line quoting contest :)
we'll see if we can arrange scripts for people who don't know the words.
FREE ICE CREAM WILL BE SERVED!!! (come by room 415 of the student center
at 9pm).

Saturday, we will be working at a homeless shelter in central square.
We'll be meeting in our office at 9am. Let me know if you want to come
as soon as possible, so we can tell them how many to expect.

If you have any questions about these events or apo in general (or
just want to get on our general info list) please respond to this
message or e-mail apo@mit.edu.

	Thanks,
	Ari
        Membership Vice President,
	Alpha Phi Omega

P.S. If you come to any of our events, you get entered in our raffle
for free Bertuccis Pizza gift certificates!

P.P.S. Feel free to bring your friends.
