Greetings Brothers!
I have just been in contact with John Grossi and have the scoop on the upcoming
CPW.
What is a CPW?
It is a chapter planning workshop, in which lots of chapters get
together and brainstorm and doing planning activities. (clarification: they do
not plan activities; they do games/role-playing about the planning of
activities, as far as I can tell). Anyway, it's a weekend packed full of
mind-broadening and useful activities.
Who goes to a CPW?
While it is geared towards current officers (President, MVP, Fellowship
Chair, and SVP), anyone interested in the aforementioned positions is encouraged
to attend. There is a maximum of 5 brothers allowed from any given chapter for
reasons that I can explain to you if you really want to know.
As far as this CPW goes, we can find car space for 5 people (the first 3
will be easy, the other 2 quite doable). There are drivers from area staff
going up that can take us.
How much is it?
The $40 registration fee gives you:
-lodging for 2 nights (with beds and sheets and pillows!)
-FOOD--Friday dinner through Sunday breakfast
-materials for activities
The program goes through Sunday at noon, so we're on our own for lunch.
I forgot to ask about tolls (it's ~$6 total round trip) and whether we should
chip in--I would assume yes unless otherwise told.
What do you need to bring?
Some clothes and an open mind--we'll be interacting with brothers from
other chapters who do things differently and have a different viewpoint on the
same issues.
When is it?
It is the last weekend in July: 7/26-7/28. We should leave Boston at
like mid-afternoon on Friday. We would be back in Boston by dinnertime (5pm at
the earliest, later if people want to stop at the LLBean warehouse to get stuff
CHEAP on the way back home...). It may be possible to leave later than that on
Friday, but be forewarned that you'll be up really late and then getting up
reasonably early if you go with those drivers... (last one leaves Boston
11pm...)
Where is it?
Way the heck up there in Maine--about 260 miles, 4+ hours in the car.
SO, IF YOU WANT TO GO, OR MAY BE IN THE SLIGHTEST BIT INTERESTED, REPLY TO ME OR
CALL ME AT x57402 BY THE END OF THE WEEK SO THAT WE CAN GET OUR REGISTRATION IN
ASAP.
YiLFS&Road-Tripping,
Emily
your ever-faithful Mme Prez.
PS I am definitely going, so if that has any bearing on your decision, now you
know.
