Dear Alpha Chi Alumni/Alumn\ae,

As you may or may not have heard, the Alpha Chi Chapter of Alpha Phi
Omega is planning a celebration of the 60th anniversary of its
chartering. Efforts to invite all brothers via the US Postal Service
have not been as successful as hoped, therefore, sincere apologies are
extended to those who have not been contacted.

For those who have previously received 60th anniversary information,
we urge you to take time *now* to RSVP (contact information below) if
you have not yet done so. Please remember that even a response of
``No, I will not be able to attend.'' will help in planning and in
verifing that you have been contacted.

US mail: Lan Chang
           Alpha Phi Omega, W20-415
           84 Mass. Ave.
           Cambridge, MA 02139
e-mail: apo-60th-rsvp@mit.edu
voice: 617-253-3788

The celebration is scheduled for May 4 - May 5 at Resolute Boy Scout
Camp in Bolton, MA and will include (among other things) an
opportunity to participate in service projects, an Initiation Ceremony
for the Spring '96 pledge class, the Anniversary Banquet, the
traditional post-I-Banquet chapter meeting, and a meeting of the Alpha
Chi Alumni Association (AXAA). Attendance to all or part of the
weekend is welcomed.

Below, you will find
   - a letter for the AXAA President (including a meeting adgenda)
   - an invitation from the chapter president
   - details of the celebration
   - an RSVP form (please send this as reply... hint, hint)

Sincere apologies to those who receive duplicates of this exceeding
long e-mail.

Yours in Leadership, Friendship, and Service,

Iris Garcia,
Newsletter Editor, Alpha Chi Alumni Association of Alpha Phi Omega

**** Letter from the AXAA President

Dear Alpha Chi Alumni/Alumn\ae,

This spring marks the 60th anniversary of the chartering of the Alpha
Chi Chapter of Alpha Phi Omega. As you can see from the enclosed
invitation, the chapter is planning a celebration on Saturday, May 4,
1996 at Camp Resolute in Bolton, Massachusetts.

Since this event will likely draw more APO alumni/alumn\ae than the
MIT Alumni/reunion weekend, I and the AXAA executive committee have
chosen to hold the annual Spring Meeting that weekend. We have not
made final plans for the AXAA meeting, but it will either be on
Saturday, May 4 or on the morning of Sunday, May 5 (in time for those
who are going home on Sunday to be able to attend before departing).

The meeting agenda will include the annual AXAA officer elections,
approval of the budget for the 1996/1997 year, reports from the
officers and members, and any other business that may properly come
before the meeting. We will probably discuss the changes in MIT's
registration day (it is changing to an on-line system which will not
need staffing from the chapter) and how the Alumni Association might
assist the chapter.

I invite you to come to the 60th anniversary celebration, enjoy the
service project and the fellowship of your Brothers both young and
no-longer-young.

John Kohl
President, Alpha Chi Alumni Association of Alpha Phi Omega

**** Invitation from the Chapter President

Dear Brother,

In May 1996, the Alpha Chi chapter will celebrate the 60th anniversary
of its chartering. We hope you received our first mailing last month,
but we're afraid that the postal system wasn't as reliable as we had
thought. Our deepest apologies if this is your first notice. In any
case, we'd be thankful if you could send a reply (even if it is
``no'') as soon as you possibly can.

The chapter's 60th Anniversary Celebration is scheduled for the first
weekend of May and will be held at Resolute Boy Scout Camp (Bolton,
MA), the site of numerous projects spanning our entire history. On
Saturday, May 4th, the day will be occupied with various service
projects---most notably, the construction of new floating docks to
replace the ones we built three decades ago. In the evening, there
will be an Initiation Ceremony for the Spring '96 pledge class, which
will adjourn to the Anniversary Banquet in the camp dining hall. The
banquet will be followed by a traditional post-I-Banquet chapter
meeting. On Sunday, there will be a meeting of the Alumni Association
as well as an opportunity to continue service projects and to relax
and enjoy the day with other brothers.

Please see the enclosure for details of the weekend. Briefly, the
chapter is planning to provide meals, child care, and lodging (tent or
cabin space) during the weekend. We would appreciate it greatly if
brothers could arrange for their own transportation.

Please take the time to reply to this invitation. We sincerely hope
that you will be able to join us for all or part of the weekend. Feel
free to include any suggestions or comments for the success of the
weekend with your reply. We look forward to seeing you next month.

Yours in Leadership, Friendship, and Service,
Charles Hamilton, President
