So, your Friendly Neighborhood Ingrid is running for Fellowship Chair,
so I thought I'd tell you a bit about my ideas in advance of elections. I've
talked to several Fellowship Chairs about the fellowship program and I've been
thinking about what I like about it, what I'd like to see stay the same, and
what things I might like to see changed or added.
The fellowship program seems to consist of SFF, Steak Fry, dinner
trips, and a whole lotta study breaks. I certainly want to keep SFF (and
keep it inexpensive) and Steak Fry (making sure revenues are at least as
much as costs) and I will continue study breaks. I know that we used to have
different study breaks, like in the building 26 elevator, and I would like
to revive things like that.
To tell you the truth, though, I'm kind of bored with study breaks.
My mom just bought me a picnic basket, and maybe we could have a Big/Little
Picnic sometime. Picnics are sociable things, and if we time it right, maybe
we can get people to stick around a bit and pledges can MEET PEOPLE. And then
maybe near the end of term we could have a Little/Big Pot-Luck-in-the-office
(or W20-400, or wherever) where Littles and Bigs get together and make things
to bring.
Dinner trips have gone well this term from what I understand, and I
would like to try to make them better. I would like to have a "Dinner Survey"
to poll the brothers about what restaurants they would like to go to (even
if they've never been there before) so that we can have a variety of things
and try new ones. I would also like to take an LSC poll of Friday night movies
so that we can get groups of people who want to go to a restaurant and a movie.
If we time it correctly, we could go to dinner and to the 7 o'clock show and
still get to bed early enought for project the next morning. :) (MY PLAN TO
TAKE OVER THE WORLD IS WORKING!!! HA HA HA HA!!!) (Oh, sorry...)
Finally, the Fellowship Chair is responsible for implementing a
membership retention program. I don't really have a plan for this yet, but
I would like to take the data Emily has from talking to inactive brothers
and then formulate a plan. Since Emily is going to the trouble to find out
about inactives going inactive, it would be a waste to a) do the research
again or b) not use what she found. So I'll worry about that part when I know
Emily's findings.
Well, the hosage question always comes up with me, so I'll see what
I can tell you. Next term I will be LSC Treasurer (I think I've handled that
pretty well this term) and IAP Student Board President (not a time sink). I
will not hold an office in SAVE (didn't I say that this term? :) and I will
be going out with Richard. I may have a UROP, but I doubt it, and I will
probably take 48 units. I think that's it. Just doesn't seem like enough.
Maybe I need an APO office, too... :)
YiLFS,
Ingrid
