Greetings and salutations!
This message is to serve as official notice that the DSK meeting will
occur on Tuesday April 2 at 7:30 in w20-400. Please note, this is concurrent
with nominations meeting. After receiving nominations for the various offices,
the floor will be opened for the nomination and discussion of the DSK
candidates. The rules for DSK's are as follows:
- anyone may be nominated. those nominated may not decline
their nomination.
- after all nominations are taken, the candidates are
dismissed from the room one at a time, and discussed.
- at any time prior to the end of the DSK meeting, a new
candidate may be nominated and added to the queue.
- a DSK is awarded for having provided long and distinguished
service to APO at the chapter, sectional, regional, or
national level. There is no concrete definition for
"long and distinguished service." each person
eligible to vote on DSK's must decide for himself
whether or nopt the particular individual is deserving.
there are no limits on how many DSK's can be awarded by
the chapter, so the number of people nominated should
not be allowed to effect your decision in any way.
if there are 20 deserving candidates, then they should
all get one. if there aren't any, then nobody should
get a DSK. it really is that simple.
- Voting
as per our bylaws, a person must attend the DSK meeting
to be eligible to vote. i can waive that requirement,
but i don't expect to be given a good enough reason
for it from anyone. in addition, only active brothers
of AXcoAPO may vote. attendance is required to vote,
but does not convey that right to non-Actives. For
this definition, pledges are considered non-Actives.
voting will begin 24 hours after the end of the DSK
meeting, and will run for a period of 7 days afterward.
the voting mechanism i will explain at the end of the
DSK meeting, as it is not crucial now.
to receive a DSK, the nominee must receive at least
two-thirds affirmative vote by those eligible to vote
on the DSK's.
