From: Charley Hamilton <chashmlt@MIT.EDU> To: apo@ai.mit.edu Date: Tue, 16 Jan 1996 21:10:11 EST Brothers, one of our alumns has brought to us the proposal of sponsoring a chapter in a new organization, APO-Trinidad. I would like you all to read his letter and send me mail telling me whther or not you feel it is of sufficient importance to call a special chapter meeting to discuss it prior to the currently scheduled first meeting of the term on Feb 6. if so, i will attempt to call such a meeting such that we can pursue the topic. I include the alumni in this mailing so that those who may have valuable advice (TM) to contribute may do so. With this introduction, i give you the letter. Date: Tue, 16 Jan 1996 21:45:57 -0400 The President Alpha Chi Chapter Alpha Phi Omega Massachusetts Institute of Technology I am an AX alum who would like to start a chapter at the St. Augustine campus of the Unviersity of the West Indies in Trinidad and Tobago, and would like AX to be the sponsoring chapter. The tentative date for the first meeting of prospective brothers will take place in either September 96 (unlikely) or January 97 (more likely). Since there is a small distance problem, you would probably not be expected to show up as often as you are usually required to as a sponsor. The moral support and advice is needed though; as far as I can tell, I am the only brother in the West Indies south of Puerto Rico. This will not be a usual sponsoring activity. APO-Trinidad will be an entity separate from APO-USA, so you will be also sponsoring a national organisation as well. Canada and Australia are the two other countries thinking of forming national APO organisatons (the Phillipines already has one). This all has to be agreed to by APO National of course, but I would need to get the agreement of Alpha Chi before I can request you as our sponsor. I would appreciate if you contact me with your decision soon.
