Minutes of ExecCom Meeting (Nov. 7, 1995)
Administrative notes:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Start: 7:33 pm; End: 7:56 pm. Present: Cathy, Bob, Ari, Charley,
Yale, Joe, Harry, Karen, Kevin, Susan, Alexis, Gilbert, Mike
Officers' reports:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
SVP (Cathy): Last weekend was Chapter Weekend II at Camp Res-
olute. It happened. It was ok. This Friday is a project at
Shriner's Children's Hospital. Richard is PC. If you are inter-
ested in going and haven't signed up yet, talk to him. We are
all meeting in the office. On the 18th we have a project at the
Food Bank, being Pced by Kevin and another someone who is
not Kevin. Laurel and Grant are PCing the Sojourner House
project. It's also never too late to volunteer to PC Afterfinals.
Everyone won't be hosed, because it's after finals.
MVP (Kevin): I have decided to cancel the pledge program; hope no
one minds. Just kidding. Chapter Weekend II can be considered
the pledge project, because most of the PCs are pledges and
most of them came which was cool. I have decided not to hold
any more pledge meetings; there doesn't seem to be any need
for any now. In leu of a pledge meeting, though, I plan to have
another study break. What would be a good day next week? I
will be mostly taking input fromt the pledges, though. Pledge
Term Review Meeting (PTRM) is, believe it or not, less than a
month away. Big brothers should start thinking about the end
of term interview and which other brothers you wouldn't mind
having with you. That's it.
AVP (Karen): nothing to report
Treasurer (Alexis): The DJR catalog is on my desk for anyone who
wants to order APO jerseys or sweatshirts and T-shirts. Pay
your debts!
FC (Jeffrey): [belated e-mail report] Sorry for not having come to
meetings in the past three weeks. I am not really hosed but
since I had no pending business at Exec Comm tonite I decided
to just send in my report and work on my homework like I am
supposed to. Nothing exciting to report other than I am keeping
in good contact with Elaine making sure SFF is coming around
ok. I was going to have a study break this Thursday, but since I
would much rather dedicate that night to getting my 6.004 lab
done, I am going to just postpone it for now. I think I would
like to instead have a study break the week of Nov. 21, cause
that's my birthday. Maybe that can be the official semi-annual
bubble wrap study break, cause I like to keep up with tradition.
YiLFS, Jeffrey.
APOcEd (Chris): (in hosage report:) I am currently taking the 5.12
exam so this is my report. Write. Deadline's Sunday 5:00,
though if you beg and plead I will take it on Monday, simply
because I will be gone to Detroit for AISES convention until late
Sunday and won't finish the issue till Monday. -Falling
ASC (Ari): nothing to report
PubDir (Susan): I've been bugging people to bring supplies back.
Historian (Bob): is hosed. The camera went to Chapter weekend
but I did not. Stuff will be dealt with when the historian is
unhosed...which hopefully will be relatively soon.
Advisory Comm. Chair (Joe): nothing to report
President (Harry): Nominations are next week. Cathy and I are
NomComm at this point.

Joe: I think the chapter should ask Jim Chesney at Camp Resolute to
be an honorary APO advisor. I'd like to recommend him. (And
I'd like to be his big brother, too.) Next May, we should con-
sider having Initiation at Camp Resolute. I'd like to approach
Jim about beong an advisor. He'd need to go through initiation.
What does ExecComm think about it?
Good. Positive responses.
Harry: I guess I'll bring it up at next chapter meeting.
Kevin: I have some new business, too. I was talking to a big brother
of a continued pledge. She was stressed out about trying to
get the pledge to come to anything. In general, this person
really is not interested in pledging APO anymore. It would be
nice to prevent such awkward situations in the future. So I am
planning to write up a standing continuing pledge policy which
would include having the pledge go through initiation again the
next term. This is subject to change at the MVP's discretion.
What do people think?
Bob: I don't know about making them go through the pledge ceremony
again, but make sure he/she contacts the chapter by the pledge
ceremony about still being interested.
Charley: The thought behind going through the pledge ceremony
again. eas to make them go a little further that to say "I'm still
interested."
Yale: Kevin, have you looked through the National By-laws to see if
such a policy would be allowed?
Ari: I'm pretty sure Kevin wouldn't find anything in the National
By-laws. Case made up a similar policy.
Gilbert: I think it would be good for the pledge to spend an hour
with APO, to get to know some new people. It would kind of
be like being refreshed; they would start off being treated like
any other pledge.
Kevin: I'll write up a motion and rationale and give it to Karen, since
I will be away.
