Officers' reports:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
SVP (Cathy): We had our third open project at Amory Woods. We
fixed a gazebo and swept off paths. This Saturday, we are going
to Stoneham Zoo to muck a duck pond. Where old clothes.
September 30, we are tentatively scheduled for a project at
Shriner's Children's Hospital, but the date may change. Richard
is PC. We are also having a chapter weekend September 30.
MVP (Kevin): A few things to report. Three, to be exact. Their
names are Michael, Jennifer, and Marcus, and they are ex-
tremely cool new pledges. Tomorrow night at 8 in 1-135. There
will be another pledge ceremony, and we are expecting at least
4 more extremely cool new pledges. So please come.
I am seeking big brothers. Since our new pledges are so ex-
tremely cool, you should all be simply clamoring to be big broth-
ers. Two of the pledges have already been snapped up, so act
now. Talk to me if you're unsure of what is involved.
Pledge Article Meal is scheduled for Thursday, October 5. I will
be seeking volunteers to cook. It is in your best interests to vol-
unteer, because if I am left to my own devices, I will be serving
Chef-Boy-ar-Dee Ravioli.
Everything else is going as planned. Thank you for your support
during Rush.
AVP (Karen): I have to update lists, other than that, nothing to
report.
Treasurer (Jennifer): not present
FC (Jeffrey): Last week we had a study break. It was pretty cool.
We'll have another one in the next couple weeks, and today I
brought cookies for the meeting. Steak Fry is coming up - please
PC! Cathy has volunteered NOT to PC Steak Fry. I do have a
PC for SFF - Elaine has volunteered.
APOcEd (Chris): not present(yet)
Historian (Jeffrey): nothing to report
Advisory Comm. Chair (Joe): I'd like to introduce the new MIT
basketball coach, Larry Anderson. He is a brother from Rust
College in Mississippi.
President (Harry): We received mail from Nationals. Everyone pays
dues of 8.50 dollars per term. Nationals has raised the pledge
fee by five dollars and lowered the elevation fee by five.
New Business:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Charley: I wanted to bring up and the discuss the idea of changing
the direction of the Service Program. This subject WILL be
discussed next chapter meeting. I have an article in the APOc
as do some alum.
Ingrid: I have numerous articles there as well.
Junko: Can we use one of Richard's empty mail lists for discussion?
Richard: At the last meeting, what had I said? I had two email lists.
One was for changing the APO calendar so that all officers are
elected at about the same time in the term. And I forgot what
the other was for. Well, now I remember. It is for discussion
about inter- and intra-chapter communication. To discuss the
service program, use the apo-comm mailing list.
Announcements:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Cathy: PCs are desperately needed. Also, if you are interested in
reading to a blind Sloan School graduate student, talk to either
me or Susan.
Charley: There's a project this weekend. Sign up. Markus and Elth
are driving.
Jeffrey: Chapter Weekend I is coming up in three weeks. Please
volunteer to sub-PC manpower, food, or transport. It's the
weekend of the 6th and 7th.
APOcEd (Chris): Late Report. Issue 1. Hope you all like it. Thanks
for writing. Issue 2 is only 2 weeks away. Write again. I will
leave the original APOc issue in the office for anyone to make
changes, like misspelled names.
Richard: 2 weeks from now, we are supposed to have a project playing
with children who need playing with at Shriner's Burn Hospital.
It is going to be rescheduled, but I'm not sure to when.
Ingrid: I need 3 sub-PCs for UMOC. Prizes, Candidates, and man-
power.
PFTGOTO:
~~~~~~~
Ingrid: seven
Charley: Congratulations to the new junior officers.
Richard: This is the coolest APOcrypha I've seen in a long time, but
don't tell Barabara I said that. Tech - page 4.- How MIT is
stifling leadership.
Gilbert: Talbot House project, also known as Chapter Weekend 0,
went well. Thanks to Joe for pulling strings to get us the project.
Charley: After you read the Tech article, please read the articles in
the APOc about how to encourage leadership at MIT.
Alexis: After you do that, you can read the Police log in the Tech
about my stolen radio.
Ingrid: Email addresses on the back of the APOc would be helpful.
Chris: I don't want to ever see an issue of the Tech like this one again.
There were a LOT of technical difficulties.
Jeffrey: Someone should update the sign-up sheets.
Bob: If anyone is going to the pledge ceremony tomorrow, could
someone please take the camera along?
Ingrid: I will.
Charley: Move to change Ingrid's name to Bob-two.
White ballot. Harry is not quick with the gavel...
Richard: Objection!
Meeting adjourned at 9:06 pm.
