Minutes of ExecCom Meeting (Sept. 12, 1995)
Administrative notes:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Start: 7:32 pm; End: 8:00 pm. Present: Harry, Cathy, Karen, Jeffrey,
Chris F., Bob, Ingrid, Elaine, Gilbert, Richard, Sparkey, Junko, Kevin,
Yale, and Henning
Officers' reports:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
SVP (Cathy): There is a project this Thursday at Amory Woods in
Brookline. There is envelope stuffing happening this Thursday
and Friday which I have about enough people for. Next weekend
there is a project at Stoneham Zoo that Charley is in charge of.
We will be mucking a duck pond, so wear clothes you don't mind
getting dirty. Book Exchange just finished. It went very well.
There are many service events coming up which need PCs so
please volunteer. Jeffrey volunteered to PC Chapter Weekend I.
MVP (Kevin): Pledge ceremonies are scheduled next week for Mon-
day and Wednesday, times yet to be determined. Monday at 7
and Wednesday at 8 are the tentative times. Do these sound
reasonable? Concert band conflict for two officers. Well, I will
make some phone calls to pledges and make a decision on the
times soon. Question: how many pledges are expected? Two
prospectives have decided to pledge and already have big broth-
ers. Many are undecided. One other note: The final draft of the
pledge manual goes to graphic arts this Friday. If anyone wants
to see it before it gets printed, they are almost out of time.
AVP (Karen): Sorry about not getting last meeting's minutes out
yet. It's not like I don't know how to do it; it seems that the
genminutes program doesn't work on Suns and when I tried to
use the program, it wiped out all the text (that's why I sent
out an email that had NO minutes with it.) :o) This all will
be cleared up, and I will get the minutes out to both meetings
soon. I will also be updating the calling lists and if any other
lists need to be updated, let me know.
Treasurer (Jennifer): not present
Kate: Nationals just raised new members' fees by 5 dollars. Will we
raise pledge fees for this term? We should decide before the
pledge ceremonies so they aren't surprised later.
Kevin: I didn't realize there was a raise in effect. I've been telling
prospectives the pledge fees are 13 dollars.
Cathy: Perhaps we can include the raise in the elevation fees if you
haven't told them the exact cost for that yet.
Yale: Make sure this is written down somewhere so we can include
the extra 5 dollars in fees next term. It won't be the last time
Nationals springs a raise on us.
FC (Jeffrey): There is going to be a study break this Thursday at
8 pm in the office. Ice cream and the leftovers from Talbot
House and other good snack will be provided. Please feel free
to volunteer to PC upcoming Fellowship events. Steak Fry is
coming up and I need someone to PC it. Also, 100 Mem Drive
has been reserved on Saturday, December 15 for I-banquet.
APOcEd (Chris): I have a few articles and have the minutes for the
last meeting. That's that. It's going to be one thin APOc if I
don't get any more articles. Write! Deadline for articles in this
Sunday at 5 pm.
ASC (Junko): nothing to report
PubDir (Elaine): nothing to report
Historian (Jeffrey): I've cleaned off the historian's desk enough to
see the desktop. I still have bunches of pictures that I need to
file. I don't want to leave them for the next historian to deal
with. I took the camera to Chapter Weekend (Talbot House)
and actually took some pictures.
Advisory Comm. Chair (Joe): not present
President (Harry): Next chapter meeting next Tuesday is junior of-
ficer elections. Please help get some candidates for these offices.
Not much has befallen us yet.
Committee reports:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kate: Book Exchange just ended and we made 14,000 dollars. Take
down in tomorrow (Wednesday) at 5 pm. Please come.
Richard: UMOC is 6 weeks away. I hope people start working on it
soon. Ingrid is PC. She needs PCs for publicity and manpower
and treasury.
Ingrid: who has just walked in I plan to be candidates PC myself but
I need PCs for other things. iSmall discussion on what PCs are
needed and who wants to volunteer for what. I guess I will need
a Prizes PC, too.
Announcements:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jeffrey: Study break this Thursday at 8 in the office. Be there.
Cathy: Be a PC for anything.
Chris: Write!
Ingrid: Project this weekend at Amory Woods, about two miles away
from ET. I said at first to meet in the office at 9, but some
people live closer to the project and it would be a waste of time
to come to campus first, so I'll give directions. We'll be walking.
We need to be there at 10 am doing landscaping and other stuff.
14 people are going which is enough.
Sparky: There is a BU pledge ceremony on September 28 in the
evening. If anyone is interested to see maybe how other chapters
conduct pledge ceremonies, talk to me. I'm offering rides there.
PFTGOTO:
~~~~~~~
Richard: I don't think I've ever seen so many different types of staples
before.
The Suggestion box is opened. There's a Far Side cartoon and two old
suggestions.
Jeffrey: I suggest that we put the old suggestions somewhere else.
Richard: I suggest we make a new suggestions box and an old sugges-
tions box.
Ingrid: I suggest we thwack Richard over the head for his suggestion.
Some ensuing discussion
Kate: If any printers are here, they are welcome to help me print up
600 LSC tickets after the meeting.
Meeting adjourned at 8 pm.
