Informal Minutes of the Pledge Meeting 10/27, #2

From: omega@Athena.MIT.EDU
To: apo-pledges@Athena.MIT.EDU, apo-news@Athena.MIT.EDU,
Cc: omega@Athena.MIT.EDU
Date: Fri, 30 Oct 92 16:13:02 EST
Second pledge meeting:
10/27/1992 at the APO office
started at 9:45pm (approximately)
Attended:
Pledges: Ann, Ovidiu, Karen, Deena, Rachel, Chris, Daniel
Brothers: Ping
Alumni/Etc.: Yale, Steve Wadlow, Sara Verilli (Steve and Sara left
early)
Agenda:
1. Chapter Skills
a. CPR will be available about December 5. Deena will teach this
skill. Because it will not be available until after pledge term
review, ASBOLUTE commitments will be accepted. Also, if you already
know CPR, you must teach (a pledge, I think) in order to receive
credit.
b. Silkscreening: contact Jen'n (tiger@athena), Darlene
(darford@athena), Kate Mahoney, or Barbara for details on runs. This
skill takes 8 hours per run (average). I think this requires 2 runs:
one training and one qualifying.
c. Printing: contact Karen Turato, Lori Tsurda, or Steve Wadlow. This
requires 2 runs: training and qualifying. Karen Turato should be
able to do this on Saturdays; Lori may not be available until
November. Both runs must be made in about one term; if the first one
is done THIS term, then the second one may be done during IAP. If
you put it off until second term, then you have to do BOTH runs again.
d. Whatever your decision, contact Ping on your choice. Admission is
limited for silkscreening and printing (especially the latter).
e. Actually, there are other skills, such as treasury and tools.
Tools isn't really available (though THEORETICALLY it is). If you
really want to learn about treasury (it's not terribly clear what it
is), contact Ping or Yale.
2. Review of Pledge Project
a. The plan is Chapter Weekend, November 7-8.
b. PC's are:
Manpower: Ann (can't make it Sat.)
Food: Rachel, Lik
Main: Karen
Transport: Ovidiu, Deena (sub-PC)
c. Remember, just because the main PC MUST go doesn't mean the other
PC's don't have to. On the contrary, they really SHOULD GO.
3. UMOC Party
a. Thursday at 9:00pm at the office.
4. Pledge Article Meal Reminder
a. November 2-3 (go on one of 2 days)
b. PC is Gilbert (head questions off to him! [gleung@athena, I think])
c. You really SHOULD go with your Big Brother. It makes much more
sense if you went together.
d. Write! The price of admission is an article for the apocrypha.
Suggested topic is why you pledged to APO, but creativity is en-
couraged (i.e. you are not restricted to that topic).
5. Announcements
a. UMOC: there are still some empty spaces that must be filled!
3 hours at UMOC counts as one service project on campus.
b. Nationals Sign-ups: are at the office.
c. Splash: is a program where you get to house a high school student
over a weekend (I don't really remember...I think it's Nov. 20-21).
Yale and Ping have more details. Sign up at the office.
d. Conclave: at UMass Amherst. We'll be leaving Saturday morning and
will be back Saturday night (I don't remember what weekend this is).
I didn't see a sign up sheet, but there's information on the wall in
the office.
e. Pledge Term Review Meeting: is November 21. You have been warned.
f. There will be a wedding at Lobby 7 at 0001 (1 minute after midnight)
on Halloween. Don't ask. Just go.
g. Execomm meeting on 10/28 (Wednesday). Pledges must go to at least
one meeting.
h. From now on, unless otherwise told, the pledge meetings are EVERY
OTHER WEEK, on the weeks of Execomms. (Next meeting is Tuesday,
November 3, no topic as of yet).

P.S. Sorry if you get this more than once. Somehow, I'm not having
a lot of luck with sending things through the mailing lists. It takes forever,
so I don't know if the last one is getting to all of you or not. Oops!
