----------------
Installations

Rachel Keeler: APOCed
Kate O'Connor: Office Manager
Brogan King: Historian

---------------
Membership:

new pledges: Ogheneovie and Andrew

oremanj: pledge ceremony tomorrow!

brogan: rush was crazy awesome! at least 3 people are probably going to
the pledge ceremony tomorrow.

oremanj: will be scheduling a 3rd pledge ceremony soon.

oremanj: we need to decide on a pledge class namesake for this term.
fall is decided by national fraternity, and spring is decided by the
chapter. ideas are: Jen Tu , Brown Westrick, and Sue Coney.

jaxxson: knew brown while she was around- and she was super awesome. she
was an excellent FVP, and made people feel warm and fuzzy.

she also started fellcomm, did a good job with bookex, and got a DSK from us

ellen: people have been a pledge class namesake a few years after
graduation in the past.

oremanj: past several years have been less recently graduated alums

jaxxson: Sue Coney is one of our BSA liasons.

ellen: all 3 are DSK holders. the namesake should be a role model, and
would ideally come around to meet the pledges. they would all be good at
this.

voting to make jen tu the pledge class namesake:
passes with a verbal vote

oremanj: at exec, piper and remeyer had discussed thoughts on membership

wings: (summarizes)

oremanj: any perceived exclusion is not intentional- talk to us if you
think it's happened, and we'll fix it.

oremanj: if you want to be active/associate, pay jaxxson today. if you
are not at the meeting (reading the minutes… hi) you can still be
active/associate, just talk to jaxxson

--------------
Budget:

jaxxson: budget looks very much like last terms budget, but is not perfect

oremanj: we need to approve something today.

(budget is in the treasurer's folder in the locker)

jaxxson: talk of increasing national layaway fund (at last exec)

kkuhn: interest? when do we get it- yearly?

oremanj: last year's spring budget had no interest included

ellen: interest is pulled out yearly, though we don't have to move it if
we're not going to use it.

ellen: the budget needs to be passed, but it doesn't have to be balanced
when we pass it.

oremanj: unsure of our surplus from last term…

oremanj: pass budget with estimated expenditures right, and estimate the
surplus.

katoco: don't know what we will need for the chemical storage- we might
need more money for that

kkuhn: the student groups will be getting group storage, since it's very
expensive, and can't vent to the outside within the building

kkuhn: moves to increase national layaway fund to $400

voting-- passes with a verbal vote

jaxxson: will follow up with any changes

oremanj: we will probably amend the budget at a later chapter meeting

voting on budget-- 15 for, 1 abstention -> passes

------------
Updating standing policies:

oremanj: discussed at exec, not particularly controversial

--
-chapter tax exemption (not for personal profit)

ellen: this basically just restates what the law says

-debt list (not to be used excessively or personal profit)

-discussion at election (kicking out the candidates during discussion)

-transportation reimbursement

-drop poster policies

kkuhn[pubdir]: seem ok

voting on (5) policies as a slate, with no changes- passes 16 to 0

---------
Service Project Reports

shawest: perkins school- went well. assembly lines FTW

rhkeeler: tell your friends to come pick up their books for bookex

oremanj: checks sent to safo last tuesday! it's no longer our fault if
it takes a long time! make sure to go to your office hours, since people
will be picking up books.

jaxxson: let people know if you need to miss office hours

k_french: let me know if you want to sign up for office hours

afarrell: reg day went well, but this may be the last year with paper forms

----------
Upcoming projects:

thzhou: can still take a few people for girl scout badge day project

ederegt: help with yarn/ fibers badge. we're helping with booths and
stuff, so you don't need yarn/fiber skills yourself. about 12-6 on the
26th. will make a chmrr.

thzhou: another project on 2/26, with no travel and less time. boston
childrens museum is having a project, and SWE is helping. you can pick
and choose time. you get free transportation and a tshirt. let me know
if you're interested, and ill send you the link to sign up

thzhou: another project helping pass our girl scout cookies to troops to
go sell. we'll meet brothers from other chapters, who want manpower
help. unfortunately, it's a 3 hour drive away to connecticut. but, we
can make it an overnight thing. not sure if chapter is interested. it's
3/5. (brogan, liz, and oremanj are interested.) PC would need to figure
out travel

thzhou: do we like letter writing? we can write letters to soldiers to
send oversees- let me know, and i'll look into it

afarrell: piper and i are organizing a project to collect packages to
send to soldiers in afghanistan. we want to work with brothers from BU.
we're still looking for co-PCs. talk to me or piper if you're interested.

rhkeeler: a few weeks ago, we went lego DNA kits for boston public
schools. lori and i would like to do another project. who is interested?
and when are you free?
(broad interest, if not done during the 10 day)
will email out.

wings: we talked about service at exec, about how we need more projects
that can accommodating larger groups. people who have done the same
project many times can try to PC new things.

--------------
Steak Fry

rhkeeler: steak fry! right now its on 3/12. it currently conflicts with
shawn's guild game, PAX, and spark… we will want manpower during spark.
i propose moving it to the sunday afterwards (3/13).

ellen: if you want alumni there, have a more lunchtime event.

voting on moving steakfry to 3/13 at 2pm- passes 16 to 0.

kkuhn: print invitations! but the people who can print are hosed… if you
want to learn, this would be a good job to do.

oremanj: talk to shawest if you want to PC or co-PC steakfry.

--------------
Upcoming national events:

oremanj: conclave- reg is $40, and hotel is also ~$40 per person. if you
want to go, sign up on the chmrr.

joni: reg deadline is 2/28, as is the deadline for the special hotel rate.

oremanj: sign up on the chmrr, and i will handle the registration.

joni: each person also needs to sign the alcohol waiver form.

--
oremanj: membership academy in june in maine. it's a weekend-long
program covering all aspects of membership.

--
oremanj: conclave in spring 2012- should MIT do it? we can have a
conclave committee to discuss this.

--------------
PFTGOTO:

rhkeeler: do security for spark! i'm security director!

afarrell: gordon engineering leadership program- talk to me if you want
to sit in on a class and see what's its like.

oremanj: it's warm outside…

kkuhn: henning is a AX alum, who is a resident scholar at simmons. he's
cool- you should talk to him.
