Good grief, you sound like you are doing a business plan. Hey, that's
what we do out here in the real world. On one hand I have to say that
having a plan can be a very good idea. It is hard to be successful in
business without one, and yes, a plan can help the chapter or any
organization to define its goals and how it intends to reach them. On
the other hand, sheesh, you are still students and it is not time to
be so grim yet! In fact, part of what made AX such a good experience
for me was the spontaneity and the joy of the group and what it did.
Make too detailed plans or disect issues too deeply, and you lose that.
There is quite a bit of mold on this brother, and I wouldn't even
begin to compare what it was like to be a student in the early '70's
with what it is like today, but one thing I think must still be true
is that enthusiasm, idea generation, and fellowship follow from having
good leadership. If there were one thing that I would suggest for any
chapter that worried about its future, it is to look at the leadership
training available to brothers and to create opportunities for all
interested brothers to grow in their leadership skills, whether via
explicit training or via opportunities to participate in the chapter.
