Someone asked:

>>> Does any of you know if I can use the ALT= keyword in an <EMBED SRC=> tag
>>> as I do in <IMG SRC=>, or can not?

Then another replied:

>><EMBED> is obsolete. The W3C has standardized on <OBJECT> for that

And a third said:

>Except of course that Netscape supports EMBED and does not yet support OBJECT.
>Minor point - except that the vast majority of browsers in use as NS.

And I would like to comment/ask:

MSIE supports <EMBED>, although they say in their spec:

OBJECT is the preferred element for inserting objects, but EMBED
is included for backward compatibility with earlier HTML documents.

Which brings up an interesting point from a practical point of view: which
to use <EMBED> or <OBJECT>? Obviously, <OBJECT> is the correct thing, but
has anyone figured out a short-term solution (until Netscape gets with the
program) short of making pages and then having to rebuild them?

Scott
