Mike,

Thankyou for posting this sensible resolution to the problem.

As the suggestor of a FAQ, (or one of many) I don't mind initiating one
in BRIEF. If everyone who is serious about such a document would e-mail
me directly with the most pertainent items to include, I'll volunteer
(on a trial basis) to keep it going.

I'll shoot for the week of March 1st to post the prototype and we can
polish it up for April and on.

PROPOSAL:

Initially the W3Sec FAQ will contain a
		:How to Subscribe/Unsubscribe:
		:Charter Description (please submit recommendations):
:Favorite Security Links Hotlist (send me some):
		:A list of contributors:

To the owner-www-security:

Will you purge the list as suggested?

-first post a warning that the purge is going to happen,
include the directions to resubscribe after x days...

-perhaps rename the group so that anyone who ignores the
	 warning can ignore resubscribing.... :)

-disable the subscription option (for 72 hours) over
a weekend (and refuse new messages for the same period)

-24 hours later, purge the list

That should prevent folks from subscribing before or during
the purge, and with clear directions to resubscribe, only the
serious should survive. And should allow the messages waiting
for delivery in the queues to be sent or killed. :)

What does everyone think?
