             Can a ping makes your router or server down? How?

Yes.  Pinging can possibly bring your server down, If the ping exceeds the 
maximum load.  There is a FAQ on it at:

  www.sophist.demon.co.uk/ping/

It describes all the intricacies of how your server to can be in trouble from 
pings.
