* Question Topic #1: I've heard that the best way to store private
data while online and surfing is to partition your hard drive.
I'm thinking of partitioning off just a small space
for any data files that I might want to kept private or at
least a way from the average net "joe".
Any comments or advice on this for a home PC user?
How safe is data in a partitioned space?
OR should they still be PGP encoded for good privacy?
How many www site out there would really be looking at your data
files or at programs that you may be developing?
* Question Topic # 2: Is there any such thing as a sniffer detector?
IN other words, something like a virus protection program except
that it tries to detect & then warn you about programs (or whatever)
that might install (without your knowledge) a software sniffer?
Other than buying an expensive hardware sniffer to monitor the output
of your PC, is there any way of detecting invasions for the home
PC user who is always surfing the web and looking to try out
new applications? (like beta testing - a risk in & of itself) :o
Thanks, from a list lurker who is tring to learn how to protect
my personal data from those www roaming eyes & ears. :)

P.S. Off-topic but the major list topic of the last few days...
I agree that there is too many "get me out of here" messages.
But what about sending out just 1 "HOW TO REMINDER" message every week?
It makes for one junk message a week, but for those that can filter out
subject headers...well, wouldn't it be possible to filter this out? If the
subject was always worded the same and it could recongize it as junk it
could then be deleted at the front door (so to speak). Just an idea.
But speaking of filtering mail...what mailing programs provide the
best filters and filtering options?
