Henry,

The one-and-only Gagan Mehra once stated:
! Hi,
! I have just started setting up an internet server and was wondering why
! all CGI scripts written using shell script use the Bourne Shell.
! Any answers would be highly appreciated.

Every complex program has errors (bugs). A shell is a complex program.
Any program that has been around for a long time most probably has less
bugs (assuming these errors will be found and fixed). Since sh has been
around since the very beginning of UNIX (well almost), it most likely
has less bugs than the newer shells (like csh *spit* and ksh or bash).
Therefor it is advisable to write these important scripts using /bin/sh
(if you want to use a shell at all).

! Henry Dham

Ciao,
Hans.
