I can't believe the ignorance I read here. www-security has to do with
world wide web access and security, right? If we talk about security
at a site protected from incoming connections, or outgoing
connections. What is there difference?

Whereas I don't really support 'banning' sites, I can understand that
a workplace wants to block access to certain areas on the net.
Otherwise the employees maybe playing or browsing 'cool sites' too
much, instead of doing their job and using the internet as a
(research) tool.

To answer the question: Most proxy server provide the capability to
'allow all and filter some' or 'allow some' outgoing requests to http
sites. Even Wingate provides this feature. Shop around and get some
more detailed information about various proxy server. If your network
is Windows or NT based, check out Catapult. There are proxy servers
for Novell available, and of course Unix...A webcrawler search for
Proxy Server should lead you to a fewplaces.

This is my last comment to this list. Time to say good bye. The
niveau of this just keeps on sinking....

Frank
