I installed BorderWare at a client one year ago and they have been happy
with it. It includes a web server, but only for static pages. If you
want to run CGI, Perl scripts, etc., you need to put a separate web server
in front of the firewall. If you also need to access internal data sources
through the firewall then you will probably need an application proxy
running on the firewall. If you have an application of this type, make
sure the firewall includes the proxies you need.
A related question: Does anyone have experience running the Oracle Web
Server *version 2.0* in front of a firewall, tunneling SQL*Net through
the firewall to an internal database? According to an Oracle White Paper,
you need a firewall that incorporates the SQL*Net proxy that Oracle has
supplied to firewall vendors. Has anyone done this with the IBM Secure
Network Gateway firewall? Has anyone done this *without* the official
Oracle proxy; i.e., is there a third-party proxy available or has anyone
built their own?
