The problem as I see it is that the people administering the list
are not...

Subscribing to a Majordomo list is not too difficult. Unsubscribing may be
another matter :-)
Its a long accepted practice in the IETF that lists should be periodically
"turned". There is pressure to do this with the HTTP list sometime at the
start of next year just to remove the number of people who "unsubscribed"
by putting it in their killfile.
www-security has been arround for over three years, its long overdue for
a spring clean IMHO.
