It amazes me that so many people are so concerned with one person's
poor manners on a list. Since I joined this list, there has been more talk
about what should not be on this list than www-security related issues.
Idle talk about issues not related to the list, flames related to people
posting non-relevant topics, etc.
This *get the bugger back* attitude is making this list useless for
what it was intended for. If you do not like what is being posted to the
list, then reply to the offender. Do it nicely and there should not be a
problem. Reply with poor manners, and you may be just as bad as the initial
poster.
For people who post items to the list that are not appropriate - ignore
them! What fun is posting some fuc!@# message if no one replies or talks
about it. This guy who posted the initial message would not have done it
again if there was no response or further conversation. He may of got his
jollies for a few minutes, but when nothing happened, he would have become
uninterested and found another list to bother. If he didn't, then you send
a message to the list owner and have the list owner do something about it.
If the list owner can not satisfy your needs, then unsubscribe from the
list.
It is the list owners responsibility to moderate the list as required.
Telling the list owner to do something is totally ridiculous. How many
people like being told how to do their job? If you do not like something
related to the operation of the list, inform the list owner. If the list
owner does not respond in a suitable way, unsubscribe. The list owner
started this list because (s)he determined there was a need for such a list.
If the list does not have the members due to specific reasons, the list
owner will most certainly correct the problem or disband the list.
If you have www-security issues / questions then say them.
If someone else posts non-related issues / questions then respond
personally or ignore them.
If you have a response then say it.
Otherwise, IGNORE IT.
This is the last chance for this list as far as I am concerned. I will
not tolerate this idle talk any more. I hope the rest of you consider this
and do the same.
