It seems that I got removed from this list at some point (bouncing mail?), so
I've missed loads. Forgive me if this has already been discussed.

I'm working on setting up a server with a strong authentication mechanism. I
decided to give the Shen stuff a try - bad move :-) I have here a set of
sources and some binaries, both claiming to include version 1.1 of the Shen
extensions. The binaries run ok, but don't appear to support anything other
than the Basic authentication scheme.

The sources seem to include code to do all the things I want to be able to do,
namely sign messages and encrypt message bodies. However, they don't compile.
Some of the source files contain rubbish (not garbled, but it's not C), which
leads me to believe that my binaries didn't come from this code.

What I'm after is information. I've had no luck in getting any responses from
CERN (Phill, I think you're on this list). Is there anybody out there who is
(or has tried) using this code? Does anybody know what the official state of
the Shen development is? Are there any alternative packages that I should be
looking at instead?

If people mail me directly, I'll post a summary to the list later. Thanks in
advance for any help you can give me.

Best Regards,

Jake
