I'm working on a paper with the following abstract, for etaCOM'96
in Oregon in May.
SECURITY CONSIDERATIONS FOR AGENT-BASED SYSTEMS
In agent-based systems, users typically delegate to one or more computers
some task that would ordinarily be entrusted to a human. Both "Mobile"
and "Intelligent" agents raise a number of new security concerns, and
shed new light on old ones. I will address some of the most pressing of
these concerns, as they apply to both existing and future agent systems.
How successfully we manage the security / flexibility tradeoff will have
a profound effect on the success of agent-based products.
If anyone has any good references or bibliography items on the
subject, I'd be interested in a copy (either direct to me, or
posted to the list here). I have a few URLs and such on Java
and TeleScript security, but the general topic seems to have
had lots of talk and little publication. Pointers (to anything
but our own "http://www.research.ibm.com/massdist"!) are eagerly
sought...
