In particular, there is the German version of that same article:
http://de.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Scoutschiff

I'm assuming "Scoutschiff" and "Aufkl=E4rer" are words that have been used =
in the German version of the show.

That article also links to the Wikipedia article on Aufkl=E4rungsschiff: ht=
tp://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aufkl%C3%A4rungsschiff
...which should translate roughly as "reconnaissance ship", but the technic=
al English term is apparently "spy ship".

Hmm... A quick Google search revealed that most "scout ships" come from sc=
ience fiction - chiefly Star Trek and Star Wars. It isn't an standard ship=
class here on Earth, although most of us seem to know what is meant. Spoc=
k had a good working description:

"Small size of the craft indicates a rapid scout vessel, one- or two-man cr=
ew." (Spock, TOS "Let That Be Your Last Battlefield")

There are several examples, but no clear over-all definition, at Memory Alp=
ha which you may want to peruse:
