"This is a general term for a planet's sun. It is not the name of a specific sun." [ghunchu'wI', 8/21/2011]

{jul} comes from the Klingon opera {'u'}. Here's the response of the opera's director with regards to the location of {Qo'noS} (http://www.u-theopera.org/official-position-qonos ):

Based on the available knowledge we have they deduced
that Qo'noS is an M-class planet orbiting the star
Arcturus aka Alpha Bootis. This is a giant orange K2
  star 36 light years away.
[Joris Favie on behalf of the 'u' team, 7/28/2010]

The Klingon sun is called by Federation astronomers both Amrita (ST6 novelization, p. 22) and Epsilon Sagittarius (_Star Trek Medical Reference Guide_, 197-?).

PUN:
 1) "Juliet is the sun" (Shakespeare, "Romeo and Juliet")
 2) Yule? (holiday celebrating the winter solstice)

{jul} finally replaced the older fannish *{Hov'a'}, *{jajHov}, *{juHHov}, *{juH Hov}, *{pemHov} [TKH], *{Hovmaj}, etc.
