The Klingon Dictionary always uses a 9-shaped apostrophe, and so do all
other books that use Klingon, if I'm not mistaked (too lazy to check them
all, now). So I'd say that's the "standard". Marc Okrand in his handwriting
tries to approximate that shape as well, sometimes it looks like a Hebrew
yod (=D7=99).
Personally, I prefer that 9-shaped one (forgive me for not knowing the
typographic term) too and use it when writing Klingon by hand, too. It's
pleasing to the eye. I don't like the simple straight apostrophe (which
probably has a different name in typography), although it's perfectly fine
in small fonts or on the mailing list or when aesthetics aren't so
important.
Most other options, like the Hawaiian Okina or a grave or acute accent just
look disgusting. The German version of the TKD uses acute accents (qaghwI=
=C2=B4)
in its dictionary section and it gives me eye cancer.
