Yeah, I know, I was being a bit naughty with that translation, but I figure=
d as long as I was replacing the actual animal with one from a different pl=
anet (and a hare with a targ), I might take that extra liberty ;)

Swedish is similarly broad: We call them all "sk=F6ldpaddor" (literally "sh=
ield toads"; compare with German "Schildkr=F6te"). Tortoises are "landsk=F6=
ldpaddor", sea turtles are "havssk=F6ldpaddor", teenage mutant ninja turtle=
s are "ton=E5rsmutantninjask=F6ldpaddor", and so forth.

I don't know how "turtle-like" a {la'SIv} is, but in my dialect
(Canadian) of English, a turtle lives in the water. The land-dwelling
creature featured in the story you related is a "tortoise".

Wikipedia tells me, however, that perhaps American English uses
"turtle" as a catch-all for sea-turtles, tortoises, and terrapins, so
perhaps {la'SIv} is equally broad as well:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turtle#Turtle.2C_tortoise.2C_or_terrapin

(To add to the confusion further, the other character in the story is
a "hare", not a "rabbit".)

I would suggest he ask Maltz what the {la'SIv}'s primary habitat is,
on {Qo'noS}, the next time he visits him.
