Here begins the twelfth and final 'ay''a' of the novel. It picks up =
immediately following the events of the tenth 'ay''a', and like all the =
even-numbered ones, mostly follows Mahoun.
We rejoin High Councillor Qa'bar, Warfare Assistant chief engineer Lt. =
qaH'eng, Warfare CMO Dr. Kruge, Yelwitan merchant captain Mahoun, and =
Mahoun's security chief Mossam all onboard Qa'bar's cruiser, which is =
parked on the surface of gharben II. Here's a recap on how they all got =
there: Qa'bar met 'eSSIm in the woods, then together they rescued Mahoun =
from the cave and retrieved tarven's message from its hiding place. =
Mossam beamed down and shot the place up, at which point Qa'bar called =
Warfare, reaching a lieutenant on the bridge, because qImyal was busy in =
her interrogation room. He asked for an engineer and Dr. Kruge to be =
beamed down, and the Warfare lieutenant complied with the councillor's =
request. The doctor authenticated tarven's message and treated Mahoun =
for his injuries and alcohol poisoning, saying that he should wake up soon.

[297] Oh scenes from my life. I am at this very moment sitting in a =
maintenance hangar while people disassemble my airplane in order to =
repair it. I'm only on the computer right now instead of watching and =
doing mundane helper tasks, because I'm downloading the aircraft service =
manual. Presumably qaH'eng has one of those on a HUD or something.
