Hm - interesting. I immediately felt like this wasn't right, but it took
me three rereads to work out why.
I think {Hoch 'avwI'} would be better here than {Hoch 'avwI'pu'}. To me
{Hoch 'avwI'pu'} "all the guards" is more considering the guards as one
single group or unit, and so {Heghpu' pagh Haw'pu'} makes me think one
of two things has happened: 1) EITHER all the guards (as a group) have
died; 2) OR all the guards (as a group) have fled. The option that you
clearly intend - 3) some of the guards have died and some have fled -
really isn't a possibility. {Hoch 'avwI'} "each guard" does allow for
that alternate choice.
