Used in canon:

  qoD QutlhwI' ngaDmoHwI'
  inner support stabilizer (BOP Poster)

I.e. those large ceiling supports flanking the captain's chair on the BOP bridge that look like shock absorbers.

Would {ngaDmoHwI'} "thing that stabilizes/balances" be the same thing as the "inertial dampeners" referred to so often in TNG?

Trek trivia:

"Adjust the axial stabilizers to match the attitude and rotation rate of the Enterprise." (Picard, TNG "Genesis")

23rd century Federation transporters have a "stabilizer circuit". (TOS "The Lights of Zetar")
