It's been known since at least August of 1996 ( http://www.kli.org/tlhIngan-Hol/1996/August/msg00303.html ), and I've seen at least one jatlhwI' po' refer to it as being straight from MO.
For me personally, a strong hint from MO and wide use in the jatlhwI' community satisfies my need for confirmation, at least enough to qualify it foe everydy speech (not sure whether it'd be used in academic texts; I've always thought it felt a bit like a colloquialism, but it needn't be).

That page belongs to r'Hul, and while I remember the use of this word
at qep'a' wejDIch, I don't remember it clearly enough to verify that
this was indeed accepted by MO. Though that was certainly my
impression.
