Good point.

Not the same exact shade, however, but they're clearly more green than blue=
. I imagine Doq/SuD 'ej X rur constructions refer to a range of colors, dep=
ending on how wide the variety is in reality and what cultural connotations=
 exist.

Consider the fact that the Andorian Commander Shran refers to humans as "pi=
nk-skins", in spite of the fact that there are non-whites serving on Enterp=
rise, and in spite of the fact that even the whites have slightly varying s=
hades.
Speaking of Andorians: There is a white subspecies of Andorians, but if I w=
ere to tell you that something were Andorian-colored, you'd probably envisi=
on something a fairly light shade of blue.

[Where I grew up, we used the word "m=E4nniskof=E4rgad" ("human-colored") t=
o refer to pink:ish beige, and I believe this word was fairly widespread (a=
lthough slightly less used than "hudf=E4rgad" ("skin-colored"). Judging by =
the low number of hits these words get on Google, I'm guessing the younger =
generation uses these words a lot less.]

I'm afraid I missed that discussion :/

Been watching Star Trek: Enterprise, recently, and it struck me that since =
the Orions occupy an area of space between Earth and the Klingon Empire [ac=
tually, it seems I may have been slightly off with this, but that's the the=
ory I was working with, anyway], and because they appear to have been an es=
tablished power at the time of first contact between Klingons and Humans, t=
he Klingon word for "Orion" is more likely to be based on the Orions' name =
for themselves, rather than any Terran word (unlike, for example, romuluSng=
an, which is explicitly stated in KGT to be based on the Federation Standar=
d word, rather than the native one (which I think is likely a nod at Rihann=
su)).
Looked around to see what Orions call themselves, and it seems that in much=
of fandom they're known as Kolari; appears it goes back to an RPG suppleme=
nt from 2003 ( http://www.amazon.com/Star-Trek-Roleplaying-Game-Aliens/dp/1=
582369070 ) and probably spread thanks to Memory Beta and the like. By no m=
eans definitive, but I personally like it a lot more than Orion.
[It is of course possible that Orion is in fact the Orion name for Orion. I=
t's been speculated that there are at least two Rigel systems in Star Trek:=
One so called because it's what humans decided to call it (coincidentally,=
this one is in the constellation Orion), and one because it's what the inh=
abitants chose to call it.]
