Everything Valkris said "in Klingon" was filmed in English and later dubbed in Klingon (often with unusual grammar in order to come up with a reason for her lips to still be moving). Everything Kruge said in Klingon was filmed in Klingon. Apparently, his scenes were shot later, after Okrand was on board. Valkris's lines were apparently shot before Okrand was hired. Despite their relationship, there were no scenes in which Valkris and Kruge were talking to each other, except through the view screens on the bridges of two different ships.
