'ay''a' loS

I was floundering around while working on 'ay''a'=20
wej for a bit before I realized that in order to=20
proceed with the story I had to figure out the=20
layout and function of the important systems of=20
vajar's ship. After a few aborted attempts at=20
starting 'ay''a' loS here I realized I also had=20
to stop and draw =96 wait for it =96 an org chart.=20
You can see it for yourself at=20
<http://http://nuqbopbom.blogspot.com/p/yelwit-duj-varsajiy.html>http://nuqb=
opbom.blogspot.com/p/yelwit-duj-varsajiy.<http://http://nuqbopbom.blogspot.c=
om/p/yelwit-duj-varsajiy.html>html=20
. I promise I will never refer to someone other=20
than Mahoun by name without also telling you who=20
they are. I have no intention of making you keep=20
track of all these people, just like the coolant=20
heat exchanger on the Dugh, I needed to know how=20
it all worked in order to set up the story. The=20
thing is, Mahoun is both a manager and a saleman.=20
I tried but couldn't get around him knowing and=20
using people's names. You can tell they are=20
names, as they violate Klingon orthography. I may=20
occasionally write them in dialogue as Klingons=20
hear or say them, but I'll footnote that.=20
Speaking of names, new feature this 'ay''a':=20
chapter names. You don't have to keep track of or=20
care about them either: I'll use numbers too so=20
you can keep them in order in your mailbox. I was=20
going to slow down to sending these a few times a=20
week, but as I prepare to send 'ay' loSmaH=20
chorgh, I'm working on 'ay' HutmaH Soch. (I had=20
to stop and do some mathematics involving the=20
Lorentz contraction, making me possibly the first=20
person ever to use that formula with c in the=20
units "loghqammey/jar"). I'm still drawing ahead=20
despite daily updates and the increasing need to=20
go back and read what I have written in order to=20
see what parts of the plan I have yet to fulfil.=20
(Yes, yes, I am having way too much fun. I hope I'm improving my Klingon,=
 too).

My apologies if any of the EuroTalk words have=20
crept in here. When they came out I was thirty=20
'ay'mey ahead, so I knew the thirty days would=20
pass before they posted, but I may have forgotten=20
when I was editing older sections.

This is actually 'ay' vaghmaHDIch , because there=20
was a 21A and 21B in between 21 and 22. Fifty=20
parts to a story that was supposed to be a two=20
pager tossed off on the plane home from qep'a'=20
wa'maH chorghDIch. jImaw'. I am going to start=20
this 'ay''a' off with the eight am meeting Mahoun=20
announced about 27 chapters ago, in honour of all=20
the people whose jobs don't consist of flying=20
around and visiting new locales all the time. As=20
co-oincidence had it, I was writing this chapter=20
immediately after sending 21A, the memory of=20
which is distracting Mahoun from his eight am=20
meeting, and the comments on which are=20
distracting me from writing it. I will also=20
remind you that Mahoun and his crew are called=20
yelwIyyItnganpu' and they speak yel Hol. I should=20
have made them Andorians in the first place, not=20
sure why I didn't. They look enough like=20
Andorians that if they were wearing hats the=20
Humans couldn't tell the difference. Do Andorians wear hats?

This picks up Mahoun's story the morning after=20
after=20
cha'maH cha', in which you may recall Mahoun=20
beamed up to the ship covered in bleeding=20
scratches and nonchalantly told his dumbfounded=20
science officer that he had just mated with a Klingon.

SKI: Mahoun kicks off the morning meeting,=20
knowing his officers are gossiping about him and the Klingon.

[1] I've immediately breaking my rule here about=20
not coining new words, but -pIn seems to be a=20
productive and obvious for N-N compounds. chutpIn=20
might be a stretch, but you'll get it from her contribution to the meeting.
[2] Doughnuts from alien planets. Don't you wish=20
there was someone at your office who was=20
qualified to test meeting snacks for toxicity?
[3] It is at this point that I realize I can=20
relate less to eight am strategy meetings than to=20
most of the stuff in the previous 'ay''a'. Oh=20
well. yelwIyyIt swim charts probably aren't like yours anyway.
[4] He'd call people by their actual names, but I=20
even after I named them all I decided it would be=20
irritating for all of us were I to namedrop here,=20
so I'm going to avoid that as much as possible.=20
It must be a cultural tradition.
[5] I was going to work out a duty roster for=20
everyone on the ship so I knew who would be awake=20
or on the bridge or whatever when, but a) that=20
wouldn't be very Star Trek would it? and b)=20
yelwIyyItnganpu' sleep a lot less than humans or=20
my Klingons, so they don't have the same kind of=20
sleep schedules, just nap when when they feel=20
like it, having only a responsibility to get=20
their work done and see that someone is watching=20
their station if required, kind of like washroom or meal breaks.
[39] charghwI'! THIS is a valid reason for words=20
like the EuroTalk "good morning" to be in the=20
lexicon, for translating the wittering remarks of other languages.
[40] You've had twenty chapters to forget the=20
name of Mahoun's Klingon fling, so here's a reminder: that's 'eSSIm .

P.S. My mail program has that feature where it=20
puts red squiggly lines under the words it=20
doesn't like. You'd think this would be a solid=20
mass of red, wouldn't you? Nope, it complains=20
about loghqammey, the Canadian spelling of=20
