Subject: Wishlist (Was: RE: chIjwI' tIQ bom: 'ay' wej)
At 13:54 08/09/2011, lab Felix:
>Water-related terms and textile-related
>ones... ...high on my list of desired new canon!
Here's my current wishlist, accumulated from
writing nuq bop bom. There are a lot of water-related wishes on it:
logic, deduction - when meq isn't specific enough
shapes and solids: triangle, cone, cylinder (have meyrI', gho, ngogh)
imagine, make up, conceive, as distinct from lying
some means of describing the concepts and products of defecation & urination
swim – animals do it even if Klingons don't
pressure i.e. atmospheric, water pressure
drift, float – whatever you do in logh or bIQ without propulsion
fluid/liquid – for liquids that aren't water.
alcohol, acid or solutions. I've been using taS for "fluid" but you know.
fluid mechanics: flow/trickle/spurt - we have nIj
a noun for dream
words to describe sounds – not so much
onamatapoeia as a word or two meaning “made a
sound” of various sorts, like “clicked” or
“beeped” or "moaned" to improve on “chuS” “vIng” or “wab lIng”,
future - is there no way other than tugh or
specifics like nem to talk about time that has not yet occurred?
antennae – on beings and on machinery
bill/invoice/cost - Huch DIlnIS, yeah, but could be better
a noun for wound more specific than QIH.
invite/invitation
look at, as distinct from bej and legh. I've been
using bejchoH and qaStaHvIS lup bej, but surely
there's a better way to describe a glance at a
clock, a glance exchanged between friends or checking a map.
morale, mood
automatic, automatically - ruQHa'?
hook/bracket/eyelet/loop/handle (other than DeS or ret'aq)
hole/opening/tear/rip/gap/orifice – Qargh, DIS,
Qorwagh and lojmIt is the best we've got?
be intermittant, pulse, flash, - qagh'egh, wewchoH ghIj wewbe'choH,
Basic machines: pump, valve, wedge/ramp, lever, screw, pulley,
Tool, sonic screwdriver, leatherman? All we have is mupwI'.
sequence, pattern, arrangement, array, be
arranged, be lined up, be sequenced, something
like that, pertaining to things that are not may'morgh, nuH DaH, & chuyDaH.
pull as an opposite of yuv. Hard to use luH for
“apply gentle traction” or other uses where you want it to be smooth.
