That should be fine. While Klingons appear to care little for the bodies of the dead, many seem to care greatly about the spirits (qa'pu'; note the -pu'-suffix, indicating that spirits are viewed as being capable of speech).
Many TNG Klingons believe in - or at least speak of - an after-life in Suto'vo'qor or ghe'tor/ghe''or. They revere Emperor Kahless and revile the devil-like creature known as veqlargh. Many even believed that Kahless would return from death, and therefore established the Monastery (ghIn or ghIn'a') on Boreth (or was it Quin'lat?).
Ford's Klingons believed in an eternal battle in the Black Fleet (yo' qIj in Okrandian tlhIngan Hol) and revered General Kahless.
At least one TOS Klingon has claimed that Klingons have no devil.

Just a curious question...I am trying to write my first short story in tlhIngan Hol. My understanding is that the Klingon people slew their gods ages ago...yet within TKD we find terms like lalDan, lat, chIrgh, etc. It would seem from what little I know that Klingons seem to highly revere their honorable ancestors. Would it be out of character if one of the Klingons in my story were to visit a temple, or invoke his ancestors? Maybe not "pray" in the sense of "beg" but more like "worship" or "appease"?

This is a rule that has largely been ignored by even the most veteran of
Klingon speakers
