>So... "pride (emotion) (n)"?
qarchu'. There's also a pun there that pretty much confirms that reading.
(I had thought {HemtaHghach} would capture the meaning fairly simply. My
apologies for not being clearer here.)
ghItlhpu' André, jatlh:
>Just for understanding: do these explanations come from you or from MO
>himself?
These explanations are coming from us, based mainly but not entirely upon
our understanding of the context in which they were found. I'll say more
momentarily.
>I'm asking since I want to know if these phrases are canon.
Yes, you can safely accept that these words are all canonical, though the
glosses we're giving shouldn't necessarily be taken as such. The words come
from the Klingon versions - which have been rendered into Klingon by MO -
of a number of new verses from an expanded libretto for the opera {'u'}.
>Did he provide any English translation at all?
He mostly didn't, though we had the English parallel versions written by (I
presume) the {'u'} lyricist, and that provided our main context. Many of the
glosses come from that. For instance, the Klingon {le'yo'} corresponded to
the word "pride" in the English text, at least twice that I recall.
{ngIq} was particularly hard to give a succinct gloss for, though, and Marc
gave us some further assistance there.
>And will you (or someone) post the whole list of the new words afterwards?
Certainly. I don't disagree with SuStel that the one-word-at-a-time method
makes it more difficult to track down the new words later on, so I think a
summary at the end is a good idea. One of us will post one - as ghunchu'wI'
has been the one largely posting the new words until now, I presume he'll
also provide a summary version once he's posted all the new words.
