I believe it's really about the building itself, but maybe just because
I didn't think about the fact that a monastery could be something else
than a building... Is there a difference anyway?
wikipedia helps:
"Monastery (plural: monasteries) denotes the building, or complex of
buildings, that houses a room reserved for prayer[...]"
"In English usage, the term "monastery" is generally used to denote the
buildings of a community of monks. "
So I think it's the building.
