On March 23rd, 1967, "Errand of Mercy" aired for the very first time. This show introduced the Klingons to Star Trek, from which point they spread like Japanese knotweed, conquering popular culture at every level.

As Star Trek survived and flourished, so too did the Klingons, to the point where they have virtually their own breakaway sect of fandom. Not to mention their own language - for which we should be eternally grateful.
