Exactly so. Just saying "blackness" would be fine, as long as one
didn't infer that it means something akin to "the void". It's
referring to a condition, not a location or substance. If the rest of
the context were appropriate, "being black" might be a very good
translation.

Right, but it's still part of the meaning of the word. Leaving it out
can be misleading, as in my concern above.

I hesitate to answer, because I don't know what "stative" means in the
question. I know we used to use the term to refer to verbs that
express a state or quality. If that's what you mean, we do have the
example of {rIntaH} to tell us that they can.
