Hmm... the main difference in in the ö sound, which is short in 'lössen'
but long in 'lösen'. As for the 's' versus 'ss', I have never thought
about it, but now that I say them, I think that my toungue touches the
roof of my mouth further back when I say 'lösen' and that the 's' sound
is maybe somewhat longer in 'lössen'. Anyway I do not percieve a big
difference in the 's' sound.
