The drinking song is definitely part of the Star Trek canon. It
appeared on screen at least twice, once with Worf and his old friend
on DS9, and once with the holographic doctor on Voyager. The doctor
even provided a translation of the first two lines, "canonizing" the
version written in the DS9 episode's novelization.
The attempt at divining the intended tlhIngan Hol words is strictly
guesswork.
