I was playing around with KCD, and hit a spot where one of the Klingons said
something like "our houses have always stood door-to-door". I couldn't help
wondering, how would a Klingon say that? It seems quite idiomatic. Rather
than worry about that particular phrase, I decided to use the whole KCD
story for {tlhIngan Hol} practice. I've decided to start from the beginning
and transcribe bit-by-bit as I'm motivated, then translate into Klingon. No
idea how far I'll make it, or at what pace.
I'm usually not all that keen on using translation for {tlhIngan Hol}
practice, because so often the English sentences tend to organize things in
a way that is unnatural for {tlhIngan Hol}. You might see me take some
liberties with the translation for that reason. More of a casual, rather
than formal translation. But since I'm not making much progress on my other
project (an original story), I'll give this a shot.

I'll place my translation (restoration? hehe) first, then the transcript,
then any notes. Comments welcome, as always.

This first piece is Gowron's (English) speech at the start of the game:

-- transcript --

[if I understood the Klingon word while transcribing, I put it in braces
{}, If I wasn't sure or didn't know, I marked the word with * and spelled
phonetically for later lookup.]

[Gowron:]

Did you think I would kill you {loDHom}?

You've heard this about Klingons. We kill anything that stands in our way.
We enjoy the taste of innocent blood.

Lies. Honor is what we treasure.

Honor above all things.

And you? You are as weak and frightened as a *kwahome.

And there is no honor in killing a *kwahome.

But you, {nov}. You outsiders, you see only our fierceness, our love of
battle. You do not see the *tihh (tIq?} that shades our every act.

This is why, I, Gowron, leader of the Klingon high counsel have decided to
break the secrecy that shrouds our culture, and show you, *divvyok, that
which truly makes us Klingon.

You are freightened young human? Yes. You should be. Your strength, your
skills are no better than that of a Klingon boy,

but... that will change.

When you have finished this holodeck adventure with me, this test, you will
have learned more than how to LIVE as a Klingon, you will learn how to BE
Klingon.

You will no longer be {nov}, weak as a *kwahom, but you will be a warrior.

Then, it will be an honor to kill you. Hahahaha.

Take your knife.

-- notes --

*tihh could either be {tIq} or {tIgh}. I chose to use {tIq}.
