I did not read all of your discussions, but would like to say my opinion anway.
DawI' for "actor" was used before the word {ghet} became known to us. The definition of {ghet} states that it is acting without implement of falsly pretending.
{Da} on the other hand is only "behave as", and we do have the canonical example (I don't care about the source) {nepwI' Daba'} "he obviously behaves like a liar", which means he *is* a liar. If one would say {nepwI' ghet} it would only mean that he pretends to be a liar, but everyone knows that he is not a liar.
So for me, an actor is definitely a {ghetwI'}. If I were to translate Hamlet today, I would use ghetwI' instead of DawI'.
